General Questions

We know this sounds like a dream, and it really is… for us and for you. Scavenge Corporation is a federally incorporated business, setup to run scavenger hunts for cash and cash value prizes. We have cleared our operations with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) agency. We are a 100% legitimate business, complying with federal competition laws and acts. We run a completely transparent operation and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Only adults who have reached the age of majority within their respective province of residency are allowed to enter. The age of majority is 18 in six provinces: Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. The age of majority is 19 in four provinces and the three territories: British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, and Yukon.

No hunts will be held in Quebec due to tax implications; however, residents of Quebec may enter a hunt in a nearby Province/Territory if they choose to do so.

Prizes will be received within 30 days of the hunt completion. Cash prizes will be delivered via certified bank check. Non-cash prizes will be picked up/delivered on an agreed upon date between the winner and Scavenge Corporation.

There are no tax consequences resulting from receipt of a prize; however, any subsequent disposition of that prize may result in a capital gain or loss. For example, if a cash prize was won and that money was then invested, any gains as a result would be reportable. Similarly, if a non-cash prize was awarded, and then was sold to another person, money received for that sale would be considered a gain and would be reportable.

Some type of mobile device with internet connection, GPS integration, and camera capabilities is required to participate. Cell phones, iPads, tablets, etc. will all work with the mobile version of the website. Remember, downloading the “GooseChase” app is required to participate.

While this is very unlikely to happen, it is possible. In this case, we would exercise good judgment and fair practices, and split the first and second prizes between both members (each member would receive 50% of each prize). We may need to modify the second-place prize if it is not a cash prize (no one wants half a snowmobile!!). In this case, we would turn the second-place prize into a cash prize valued at whatever the original second-place prize was.

You will need the following equipment:

  • A mobile device with internet connection, GPS integration, and camera capabilities
  • A vehicle (while not absolutely necessary, it will certainly help you get it done quicker)
  • A sharp mind!

Hunts will take place in most Provinces, excluding Quebec. Provinces will be identified within the members section of the website. Initially, hunts will take place in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. We will indicate which region of the Province the bulk of the hunt will take place, so that members can decide if the hunt is accessible to them.

Unfortunately, this situation may occur. Scavenge will always post the dates of the hunts within the members section, so please be sure that your schedule allows you to participate during those specified dates. As the entry fees directly impact the number of available prizes and total prize value, Scavenge will not be able to process refunds as result of scheduling conflicts.

EVERY SINGLE HUNT will have a winner, even if Scavenge needs to release hints to get you there! We will NEVER allow a hunt to not be solved. All hunts are designed to be solved within 10 hours maximum, with the intent to release clues on a Saturday or Sunday morning and have that hunt completed before supper time. Initially, hunts will be once per month, but as we garner more and more members to the Scavenge Family, hunts every weekend are anticipated.

Everyone will sign up for Scavenge events individually and pay their registration fee as a single entrant. At this time, our app allows each hunt to be operated as either individual based OR team based; we cannot have a hunt that allows both teams AND individuals.
We do however encourage friends and family to come together and work together, while helping each other solve the missions and finish the race. It is up to you and those you work with to split and share the prize should you place at the top!

Every participant must sign up individually. If individuals decide to work together, that is well within the expectation and is encouraged. Let us be clear… the “divide and conquer” mentality will NOT be successful. Many of the missions require physical presence (E.g., GPS check-in) which can’t be done if part of your group is elsewhere. Prizes will only be awarded to participants who have attained the mission points required and reached the final destination within the allotted prize award standings (E.g., Top 3).

In other words, do not expect to split your group and have different participants complete different missions and then attempt to claim a prize based on the cumulative completion. As mentioned above, to claim a prize you MUST have attained the mission points required as an individual entry on GooseChase. If you are working with others, all others must have attained the required mission points within the GooseChase APP to claim a prize as well.

Each event will be different. Scavenge will release the prize allocation (E.g., Top 3) and prize value prior to the hunt start. Every finisher does not receive a prize. Only the announced prize qualifying positions will be awarded.
